Roald Martinsen Roald Martinsen graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Speech/Theatre. It was under the direction of Dr. Jerry Davis he received his training in Scenic Design. As the Co-Director at Carroll Senior High School, Roald has directed William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, Meredith Willson’s The Music Man, Anne of the Thousand Days, The Philadelphia Story, Deborah Brevoort’s The Women of Lockerbie, which advanced to the UIL One Act Play Regional Competition and finished in the top-12 schools for the State of Texas, and The Pajama Game, the 2007 Casa Manana Betty Lynn Buckley Award Winner for Best Musical. He also coached the UIL State Theatrical Design team for Carroll, whose work for Horton Foote’s The Trip to Bountiful was one of only eight schools in the State of Texas to be rated as exemplary. As a second year teacher, Roald coached the Millikan Middle School Performing Arts Academy and Magnet Acting and Tech Theatre competitors to three first place titles in the 2002-2003 Drama Teachers Association of Southern California Fall and Spring Drama Festivals. He followed this accomplishment with seven first place titles in the 2003 – 2004 Festivals. Roald also authored a one-man show highlighting the poetry of Edgar Allan Poe in which he performed for the Los Angeles Unified School District’s YS Care program for at-risk children. This project was produced by Enrichment Works for the 2002-2005 School Tour Series. As an actor, writer, director, and professional clown Roald has appeared in nearly 100 plays. His favorite stage roles include: George in George M!, Johnathan in Pillow Talk, Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Malvolio in The Hudson Guild’s acclaimed production of Twelfth Night, Matt in The Fantastiks, Artie in House of Blue Leaves, and Jerry in Zoo Story. His television roles include The Bold and the Beautiful and America’s Most Wanted. His starring film roles include Larry in Thugs, which was shown at the USA Film Festival and the Fort Worth Film Festival. He has also starred in Red Lion, Young Queen, and Goatman: The Movie. Roald enjoys skiing, mountain biking, hiking, and playing with his son, Aksel. Roald believes in leading by example: Always do your best in everything you attempt to do!
