Half a century after it first appeared on Broadway, the hills around Southlake will soon be alive with The Sound Of Music, the beloved musical based on the true story of the Trapp Family Singers. The unforgettable score includes some of the most memorable songs ever performed on the musical stage, including “My Favorite Things,” “Do-Re-Mi” and the glorious title song “The Sound of Music.”
Directors Roald and Stacie Martinsen have worked with The Lighting Guy Productions and Technical Consultant Curtis L. Harnagel to create a cutting-edge approach to the traditional musical by incorporating seven projection screens ranging from 9’ - 14’ in height and 12' - 32' feet in width with live video and still photography feeds through eight rear-view projectors that will feature historic locations such as Nonnberg Abbey, the Swiss Alps, and various architectural landmarks in and around Salzburg, Austria. “We believe this approach will be more engaging for a younger audience and we are hoping to bring viewers to the theatre who have never seenThe Sound Of Music. The traditionalists will also love the show because it will pay homage to the wonderful film that we all grew up with,” said Carroll Theatre Co-Director Stacie Martinsen.
